Maska Indian Eatery in Patong

Dinner Review – March 3rd

Located on the bustling street of Phangmuang Sai Gor outside TRIBE Phuket Patong, Maska Indian Eatery is a tiny but mighty spot serving up bold, ghee-laced flavors. This modern Indian restaurant blends the chaos of Indian street food with the smoky allure of tandoori classics, all while keeping things casual and fun. Think crispy samosas, fiery chili chicken, smoky kebabs paired with free chai by day (only served during day time but not for dinner) and spice-infused cocktails by night (could not find it on the menu).

THE DECOR

Maska is intimate and cozy, with just four indoor tables and a handful of seats on the terrace. It’s not the spot for a big group (max four, ideally two), but the colorful decor with posters and playful touches transports you straight to the streets of India without overwhelming the senses. The restaurant’s home, TRIBE Phuket Patong, is part of Accor’s trendy new brand, blending pop art, coworking spaces and a youthful, creative energy.

THE FOOD

Helmed by Iron Chef Saurabh (of the award-winning Tambu), Maska’s menu is a love letter to Indian street food. Here’s what we tried:

Gol Gappe (Panipuri) THB 140

Crispy spherical puris stuffed with chickpea crumble, potatoes, and spicy water. Classic, but not groundbreaking.

Palak Patta Chaat THB 150

A standout! Crispy spinach leaves drizzled with sweet, spicy, and tangy chutneys—beautiful and delicious. Don’t skip this.

Do not miss Palak Patta Chaat

Ghee Roast Mutton on Coin Paratha THB 295

Tender goat leg on flaky paratha, with pickled shallots and peanut chutney. My friends raved about it (I’ll take their word for it—I don’t eat mutton or goat!).

Achari Sea Bass THB 380

Yogurt-marinated and spiced fish, but a tad dry. Could use more moisture.

Chicken Tikka Masala THB 320

Star of the night. Juicy chicken in a rich, tomato-based masala gravy—creamy, buttery and perfectly spiced. We asked for extra heat, but the balance was just right.

Cheese Chilli Naan THB 140

Three cheeses and chili stuffed inside. Decent but not unforgettable.

THE DRINKS

A tropical twist on a Negroni with this Tropical Aperitif

Tropical Aperitif THB 345

A tropical twist on a Negroni, with pineapple rum, coconut liqueur, Campari, and banana liqueur. Sweet, herbal, and refreshing—ideal for vermouth and Campari lovers.

THE SERVICE

The staff is friendly but struggles with menu knowledge and recommendations. Communication can be tricky, so come prepared with your order in mind. It’s a shame, because the food deserves better storytelling.

WHY YOU SHOULD GO AND RETURN

Maska is a fun, flavorful pit stop in Patong—especially if you’re craving Indian street food with a modern twist. The Chicken Tikka Masala and Palak Patta Chaat alone are worth the visit. That said, Patong’s chaos (traffic, crowds and grime) isn’t for everyone, and the service needs polishing. If you’re in the area, it’s a solid choice for a casual, spice-filled meal. Just don’t expect fine-dining service.

Pro Tip: Go early to snag a table, and save room for their nostalgic Indian desserts!
