This prestigious international contemporary art festival, modeled after the renowned Venice Biennale, is poised to elevate Phuket’s status as a cultural and artistic hub.

I had the privilege of attending the awareness event for the Biennale last weekend and was blown away by the energy and excitement. The event showcased the incredible talent of local artists and gave me a glimpse into what the Biennale will have in store.

 

Here are some highlights from the event:

 

  • A vibrant art market: The market was filled with a diverse range of artworks, from paintings and sculptures to jewelry and installations. I couldn’t resist purchasing a few pieces to commemorate the event.

  • Delicious food and drinks: The event offered a variety of local delicacies and refreshing beverages, allowing me to savor the flavors of the island while enjoying the art.

The Biennale’s theme, “Eternal [Kalpa],” focuses on the sustainable relationship between humans and nature. This aligns perfectly with the growing global emphasis on environmental conservation and sustainable practices. By exploring the interconnectedness of humanity and the natural world, the biennale aims to inspire and engage audiences while promoting sustainable tourism in Phuket.

 

Scheduled to take place from November 2025 to April 2026, the Thailand Biennale, Phuket 2025 will feature an impressive collection of artworks by over 60 Thai and international artists. These works will be showcased across various venues throughout the island, transforming Phuket into a dynamic and immersive artistic landscape.

David Teh, the Artistic Director for the Thailand Biennale, Phuket 2025, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event. “We are thrilled to bring the Thailand Biennale to Phuket, a city that is renowned for its beauty and cultural richness,” Teh stated. “This biennale will provide a unique platform for artists to showcase their work and for visitors to experience the power of art in fostering a deeper connection with nature.”
